It was not the best of weekends for Nissan in Zolder, as we were hit by trouble several times. Our pace was very good all weekend long, but we started to get into trouble when I picked up a penalty for apparently not slowing down enough during a yellow flag in free practice. This led to a 3 place grid penalty which put us onto the back foot already.

Starting the QF race from P9, I managed to avoid all the accidents in front of me and pitted in from P7 well in sight of the leaders. So we were all set for an improvement in position which our usual fast pitstop would have guaranteed us. But unfortunately everything went wrong in the pits and when Lucas went back out we found ourselves last. Then again Lucas showed the pace of the GTR with putting down lap times, that were often faster than the leaders of the race.

In the championship race we had a very similar situation, with Lucas taking the start and when the pit window opened, he did some very fast lap times to close the gaps to the leaders. It was all set again for us to be minimum in the top 4, but again we hit trouble in the pits and I dropped back to almost last when I left the pits. I then tried everything to gain more places, but couldn't move up more than P9 in the end.

It was a real shame as the GTR ran really well and was very competitive lap time wise. Just to pick up 2 points is disappointing, but when we compare our result to the other GTR's then we look still good, as everyone crashed out in the main race. Definitely not our weekend.

We hope for better luck in 3 weeks in Portimao, a track where we won the QF race last year..

何度ものトラブルに見舞われ、ゾルダーはNissan勢には最高の週末ではありませんでした。 僕たちのペースは週末の間は非常に良いものでしたが、僕がどうやらフリー走行でイエローフラッグの間、十分減速せずペナルティを課されたときから、トラブルが始まってしまったようです。 このことで3グリッド降格の罰則を受け、既に不利な立場におかれるということを招いてしまったのです。

9位から予選レースをスタートし、目の前で起こるすべての事故を何とか避けて、先頭集団がすぐそこに見える7番目の順位でピットインしました。 そして、誰もがいつもの速いピットストップが約束されていて、ポジションを上げてコースに戻してくれるのではないかと期待し、その準備ができていました。 しかし、残念ながら、すべてがピット内で悪い方向にいってしまい、そして、ルーカスがコースに戻ったとき、自分達が最後だと気付きました。 それからは、ルーカスがラップタイムの記録を出しながらGTRのペースをみせ、先頭集団より速いこともありました。

決勝レースでは、かなり同じような状況に陥りました。ルーカスがスタートを切って、そして、ピットウィンドウが開いたとき、彼は、先頭集団との差を縮めるために非常に速いラップタイムを出しました。悪くても4位になるよう再びすべて設定されていましたが、またもピットでのトラブルで、そして、僕がピットを後にしたとき、ほとんど最後に近いほどに順位が落ちました。 それからは、さらに上の順位を獲得するためにすべてを試みましたが、結局、9位より上に行くことができませんでした。

GTRは本当に順調でかなり競争力があるラップタイムをたたき出していたのに本当に残念なことです。 たったの2ポイントの獲得は、期待はずれですが、他のGTR勢との結果を比べると、他は決勝レースで衝突してしまったので、僕たちはまだいくらか良くは思えます。 でも確実に僕たちの為の週末ではありませんでした。

3週間後のPortimaoは昨年予選レースで優勝したコースなので、もっと良い運に恵まれることを期待しています。
