R9 in Goldenport/China
We had a bit of a nightmare at our last race in Ordos, or at least regarding our pitstops. Blistering fast pitstops have earned us victories this year, but last weekend in Ordos it was unfortunately the opposite and we stood still for as much as 40 seconds at times, when we really should be done in 20. But that is racing and a big part of it, so in the end we were lucky to still escape with P9 and 2 points, more importantly the championship lead. Our Nissan GTR was performing extremely well with the 60kg success ballast and it would have been possible to finish in P5 with a proper pitstop.
Nevertheless this weekend we concentrate on the very small Goldenport circuit in Beijing and it reminds me of a small version of Tsukuba in Japan. It is very bumpy and there are only brick walls around, so it is extremely dangerous. Overtaking opportunities are not really there, so qualifying will be very important. It's a 2 day event with the final two races on Saturday already and there might even be rain on race day.
So all in all difficult conditions and we have no idea at the moment how good our performance can be compared to the competition. But a target we have is definitely to travel to the last race in Argentina as the championship leader, and with now only 20kg of success ballast, there is a high probability that we achieve this target as we have won in Paul Ricard with that kind of weight already.

オルドスでの前回のレースは、少なくてもピットストップに関して言えばちょっとした悪夢のようでした。今季はとても早いピットストップが功を奏して勝利をもたらしてくれたのですが、先週末のオルドスでは不運にも反対で20秒で済むところを40秒ほど我慢しました。でもそれがレースで、大きな部分でもあります。最終的には9位で2ポイント獲得し、なにより選手権のトップをキープできたのはラッキーでした。Nissan GTRは60kgのサクセスバラストを積んでいても半端なく良いパフォーマンスをしてくれたし、的確なピットストップであれば5位でのフィニッシュは可能だったと思います。
さらに今週末は北京のとても小さいゴールデンポート・サーキットに集中しています。日本の筑波の小さいバージョンを思い出させます。道がガタガタでレンガの塀しかないので、非常に危険です。オーバーテイクのチャンスはあまりなさそうなので、予選がとても重要になってきます。土曜に最終の2戦がある2日間のイベントで、さらにレースの日は雨かもしれません。全てが全て厳しいコンディションで、僕たちのパフォーマンスが他チームと比べてどれくらい良いか現時点ではわかりません。でも僕たちのターゲットは選手権トップとして最終レースのアルゼンチンに行くことは明確です。そして、今は20kgのサクセスバラストだけなので、これくらいのウェイトで戦ったポール・リカールで勝利したことからも、このターゲットを獲るのは高い可能性があると思います。
