It was the first real 24h race at the "Green Hell" of the Nurburgring last weekend, but unfortunately not everything went as smooth as planned. I raced the Nissan 370Z from the RJN Team, all organize by Auto Zeitung together with Nissan Germany. It all started with the typical Nurburgring weather at the Thursday night practice. Heavy fog, rain and mud turned my first laps around the Ring into a real nightmare. It was really tough to go blind over jumps or high speed section with hardly any visibility. But that was what I was warned about and what this race is all about.

After completing just 4 laps or so in practise I took the start of the race from around P59. Luckily the weather was fine for the race and so I really enjoyed my stint at the beginning of the race. The atmosphere and amount of people was something I have never seen before. Lap by lap I got more used to the circuit and more comfortable and was able to improve the times. After my my teammates took over and unfortunately after about 3,5 hours we started to get some problems from the engine side and had to replace the engine which of course spoiled our race. We don't know the exact reasons for the problems yet, but the nevertheless the team did an incredible job changing the engine and we continued and finished the race finally in P115, not bad with an engine change out of 220 cars or so.
It was a big disappointing because we had the chance to make it into the top 20 for sure if we could have avoided trouble. But that is 24h racing and we all hope to be back next time for another try!

But this week I will be on my way to Brno where the next round of the GT1 World Championship is held. This time the target is clearly to finish the main race and collect
some points.

ニュルブルクリンク 24Hレース

先週末に開催されたニュルブルクリンクの『Green Hell（緑の地獄）』で実に最初の24hレースでしたが、残念ながら、すべてが計画通りにスムーズに事が運んだというわけではありませんでした。 僕はNissan GermanyとAuto Zeitungによって組織されたRJN チームのNissan 370Zでレースをしました。　木曜日の夜の練習はニュルブルクリンクの典型的な天候で始まりました。 濃霧に雨、そして泥がRingの周りの最初のラップを本当の悪夢に変えました。 視界が遮られた状態でジャンプしたり、ハイスピードのセクションでもほとんど何も視えない状態で、本当に厳しかったです。 しかし、それが警戒すべきことで
このレースのすべてなのでした。

練習を4周かそれくらい周った後、僕は59位あたりからレースをスタートさせました。 レースでは、運よく天候が安定していたので、僕はレースの始まりでは本当に任務を楽しんでいました。 観衆の雰囲気と人数に、僕は今まで一度も見たことがない何かを感じました。 ラップ毎にサーキットに慣れて快適に感じるようになり、タイムを上げていくことができました。 僕のチームメートに引き継いで3時間半後、不運なことにエンジンの方に何か支障をきたし始め、エンジンを交換しなければならず、不本意にもレースが台なしになってしまいました。 しかし、僕たちがまだその支障が何かを正確に把握してないにもかかわらず、チームがエンジン交換の素晴らしい仕事をしてくれて、レースを続行、最終的には115位で終えました。エンジン交換があっての、約220台中ですから悪くはありませんでした。

問題を避けられてさえいたら、僕たちには確実にトップ20になれるチャンスがあったので、それには大きく失望せざるを得ませんでした。 でもそれが24hレースなのですし、僕たちは皆、再挑戦で次回戻ってくることを願っています!

今週、僕はGT1ワールドチャンピオンシップの次ラウンドが開催されるブルノへ向かっていることでしょう。 今回の目標は、決勝を確かに走りぬき、ポイントを確かに稼ぐことです。
