It was a difficult start of the season in Abu Dhabi. After qualifying in P8 we had a great QF race. I was able to avoid a start collision and made my way up to P4 during my stint. I then passed the car to Lucas, who did an amazing drive during which he made a bold move to overtake our colleague Bernoldi in the sister Nissan GTR.

So finishing the QF race in P3 was more than we could have hoped for and set us up perfectly for the main race...in theory.
Lucas had to take the start for the first time and it it went all different to what we were planning. The front row was missing the start and therefore caused a lot of confusion behind and unfortunately we dropped to P7 in all the chaos of turn 1. We then still looked set for a good point finish until we were hit by the Aston Martin of Stefan Muecke, which damaged our GTR so heavily that we had to make an extra pitstop. I went out for my stint already a lap down and with a damaged suspension just to collect some more data for us.

So it has been a very disappointing ending of a weekend, which started quite promising. Lucas and I can't wait for our next chance in Zolder in two weeks to make a better result!

アブダビでGT1初戦

アブダビでのシーズンのスタートは厳しいものでした。 プレ予選8位の後、かなり良いQFレースとなりました。スタート時の衝突を避けることができ、自分のスティントの間、4位までポジションを上げ、それから車をLucasに引き渡しました。Lucasは同じNissan GTRで同僚のBernoldiに追いつこうと大胆な手段を使い素晴らしい運転をしていました。

そして、3位でQFレースを終えたのは、期待していた以上で、メインレースのために完全なセットアップしたように思いました…理論上では。
Lucasは初めてスタートを担当しなければなりませんでしたが、それで自分達が計画していたことがすべて違ってきてしまいました。 最前列がスタートをはずしてしまい、それにより多大な混乱をまねき、残念ながらコーナーのあらゆるカオスののち7位に転落。そして、まだ良いポイントでのフィニッシュを決めるつもりでいたのに、Aston MartinのStefan Mueckeにヒットされ余計なピットストップを余儀なくされるほどGTRを大きく破損。自分のスティントでは既に周回遅れで、破損したサスペンションでただ自分達用のデータをとるためだけに走りました。

そんなわけで、脈があると思い始めていた週末は非常に期待はずれの末に終わりました。 Lucasと僕は、より良い結果を出すため2週間後のゾルダーの次のチャンスを待ちきれません!
